The Oneida County Police Benevolent Association is comprised of members from the Oneida County Sheriffs Road Patrol Division and Oneida County 911 Dispatchers.  The men and women of these two groups are dedicated to providing life saving and quality of life services.

The PBA is a labor organization that was originally formed like most labor groups to protect it's members from unfair treatment and to negotiate as a group for wages.  Our union still performs these functions but has also transformed into a benefactor for the community by supporting or initiating programs for our citizens.

We support programs such as Hospice, Bike Safety, K-9 Demonstrations, Child ID's, DARE, Child Safety Seats and other programs through funding or purchasing of supplies.  This is done through fundraising efforts and our monthly dues.

As public safety employees our members serve the residents and visitors of Oneida County 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Our dispatchers are trained in Emergency Medical Dispatch which allows them to guide callers through medical and life threatening emergencies until help can arrive.  They also provide police, EMS and fire agencies with crucial information.  At any given time, they can be responsible for dispatching police, fire or ambulance services, obtain information and relay to the agency needing such information.  In addition to this, they may be asked to contact utilities, Public Works offices, tow trucks or other services to respond to the scene.  They also maintain the 911 database that is used in emergencies to find you where you may be calling from.  When members are needed when they are not on duty, the 911 center is responsible calling members in.

Patrol Members provide a variety of services.  Such services include typical patrol functions such as enforcing Vehicle and Traffic laws, responding to emergency calls like domestic disputes, motor vehicle colisions, alarms, physical altercations and many more.  The most public aspect of the Sheriffs Office is the road patrol that deals with most of these calls.  We have members in the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) that deals with mostly Felony complaints, Warrants and Drug enforcement.  In addition to these common types of services, there are times that require special training.  We have members that are trained in the following:

-Forensic Identification services
-ERT (SWAT) Emergency Response Team
-Bike Patrol
-DARE
-Car Seat Safety Checks
-Child ID
-Dive Team
-Snowmobile Patrol
-ATV Patrol
-Hostage Negotiators
-Field Training Officer (responsible for molding future officers)
-Police Instructors (teach at police academy - MVCC)
-Motor Vehicle Collision Investigation
